Exploring Healthcare Science as a Career (Pathology)

This is an exciting opportunity to shadow the work of our valuable Healthcare science team colleagues.

Throughout the experience you will be assigned a host who will show you exactly what is it like to work in the laboratory of an acute hospital setting. You will shadow alongside different members of the multidisciplinary team, interpreting results and understanding how they ultimately impact on the patient pathway.

This experience is offered as a 1 day placement however can be adapted for experiences ranging from a 1 hour tour to 5 full days to suit your availability and requirements.

This opportunity will be held in our laboratory environments within Derriford hospital. In line with our risk assessment outcomes this experience is open for applications from those age 16+. There is no upper age limit to this experience. You will also be required to wear suitable personal protective equipment (PPE) for the duration of the placement (this is provided)
