Exploring Diagnostic Radiography as a career (1 Day)

We are excited to offer this unique 1 day opportunity to shadow the work of our diagnostic radiography colleagues in a busy acute hospital setting.

The placement will begin with an introduction to your host and the wider multidisciplinary team, followed by a guided tour through the department and any associated clinical areas.

Your host will explain patient pathways and methods of diagnosis, whilst also providing ample opportunity to ask questions and observe the day to day work of the team in a real life setting. This experience is provided for you to gain a real sense of what it would be like to work as a diagnostic radiographer and ultimately inspire you into pursue a career within radiography in the near future.

This experience will be held in our Radiography Department on Level 6 of Derriford hospital. In line with our risk assessment outcomes this opportunity is open for applications from those aged 16 and above. There is no upper age limit to this experience.

In order to protect you, our staff and patients, you will be supervised at all times and will not be permitted access to restricted areas unless under direct supervision.

Due to the anticipated demand, we are unable to guarantee a placement and all applications will be subject to a selection process.
